Survivin' & Thrivin' Kickoff - Feb. 3

The kickoff for the newest open-mic poetry series in the Lansing area happens this Saturday, February 3, at the Gone Wired Cafe (2021 E. Michigan Ave.)! Sign up at 7:00pm; reading at 7:30pm. The event is free and donations are welcomed!

About the Series
The Survivin’ & Thrivin’ open mic welcomes all writers as well as expressions of poetry and prose. The series is a great opportunity to network with women writers in the Lansing area.

About the Theme
Our theme “respecting the lives and words of women” is inclusive of everyone. We invite artists and guests here in post-Affirmative-Action mid-Michigan to celebrate and reflect on women-identified experiences.

About the Community
During our November 2006 performance and open mic at the Gone Wired CafĂ©, we were struck by the event’s significance for the community: One poet resurfaced after a ten-year hiatus from reading, and a ten-year old girl read a poem she composed that night. See pictures from the November event!

About the Hosts
We are friends of five years and going strong who work as a team to achieve our individual goals.
